Tự Nguyện – Volunteer: Help Empower NoVA Vietnamese Americans Through Voter Registration!

Volunteer phone bankers line the BPSOS-Falls Church office as our voter registration and get-out-the-vote drive with community partners gets rolling!

October 15, 2008: An exciting voter registration and get-out-the-vote effort is under way in Northern Virginia’s Asian-American community, and Boat People SOS is leading the way in partnership with the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance. The work is strictly nonpartisan, and the goal is to reach – and if possible, mobilize – over 6,000 people.

Weekdays and weekends, we are running 10-volunteer phone banks out of BPSOS, all in Vietnamese. Also on the weekends, we are taking our message of civic engagement and democratic action door-to-door and to NoVA’s Vietnamese-American hubs, including the Eden Center.

If you want to be a part of this grassroots action for democracy, please call the director of the Community Development Department, Trang Khanh Tran, at 703.538.2190 or email her at khanh.tran@bpsos.org . Together, we can empower the Vietnamese-American community!
